Plastic Injection Molding
Plastic injection molding is a high-volume manufacturing process where molten plastic is injected into a precisely shaped mold cavity, cooled, and ejected as a solid part.
It’s one of the most common ways to make plastic parts in bulk, from bottle caps to car dashboards.
How it works
Material Feeding
Plastic granules (pellets) are loaded into a hopper.
Melting
A heated barrel and rotating screw melt the plastic.
Injection
The molten plastic is forced into a steel mold at high pressure.
Cooling
The mold is cooled (usually with water channels), solidifying the part.
Ejection
The mold opens and ejector pins push the part out.
Repeat
The cycle repeats in seconds or minutes, depending on part size.

Mass production
Can produce millions of identical parts efficiently.
Low cost per part
Once the mold is made, parts are very cheap to produce.
High precision
Tolerances can be as tight as ±0.1 mm.
